“My work is meant to inspire awe in the creation of the divine, whether it's pattern making (geometry) or nature photography, I am not really creating but rather capturing perspectives on existing structures. In this work I challenge the bases in which black people in America are meant to see the world, by making Allah SWT the primary focus I ask my people to remember that justice is inevitable, and invite them to experience the awe for the creator that I do. These pieces are personal to me, but the structure that they are created from was not made for me alone, and so they are meant to inspire others to find and live similar experiences.”
BLACK & MUSLIM
“I'm a black artist, but I make Islamic art and I don't make it for my self I make it for Allah SWT. My first 20 years of life I spent as a non-muslim seeing the way in which blackness is seen and treated in the Bay Area and America, and I was lost, until Islam. This is why muslim is the word I chose, because it is the most important thing to me.”
