“In my final year as a design student, I became interested in the concept of Language Justice — the idea that everyone has a right to be heard regardless of the language they want to speak. I designed a cultural probe in Spanish and Mandarin and gave it out to multilingual classmates and NYC residents to research this idea. In this series of illustrations, I use my research and findings to visualize what a multilingual higher education experience might look like. The research, writing, and illustrations aim to answer the questions: Who does higher education cater to? Who feels invited? What communities are built when we encourage an expanded multilingual learning experience in colleges? What steps and resources are needed to make these multilingual inclusion goals a reality?”
BLACK & BEYOND
“I am mixed race, so quite literally I am more than just Black, but I also take pride in having a wide range of interests and ambitions in design and *beyond*. Bed Bath & Beyond but with flavor.”
