“My art is a reflection of my subconscious, almost like dreams that come to me. I see powerful black women like Harriet Tubman and Grace Jones who broke the mold of what everyone thought a black woman should be. Harriet's life was dedicated to freedom and Grace Jones lives in that freedom. They embody what I am striving to be..."free". MLK said “freedom is never given voluntarily by the oppressor; it must be demanded by the oppressed.” He fought and demanded that black should be allowed to live in their birthright as a human being without prejudice.”
BLACK & FREE
“The definition of "free" is not under the control or in the power of another. For years I have struggled to find a creative voice that was truly mine. Not worrying about what others thought about it or me. I have finally reached a place where I create what I want regardless of perception. It feels wonderful to be "free".”
