TENEKA KING, WORKING NOT WORKING X WHERE ARE THE BLACK DESIGNERS

GRAPHIC DESIGNER, ART DIRECTOR

“Event design for Keep a Child Alive's Black Ball. The night was centered around the 80’s - a time when brave activists spoke out and did something way before it was fashionable or safe to do so. When activism played a critical role in breaking the silence and cutting through the stigma surrounding the AIDS epidemic. At the event we evoked that spirit of activism from the 80’s and paid respect to those who acted during that time. The theme was reflected through the décor, collateral, messaging and musical performances.”

BLACK & PROUD

“Black people have been made to feel small and encouraged to dim their light in most spaces. However, we have always had a deep sense of pride as it relates to who we are and our contributions to society. We rarely get the credit, but Black people are the change makers that drive culture forward, and we should be proud of that.”
