“The founder of Sankofa Soccer Academy, Mya Walsh, is seeking a way to forge a space for minority soccer athletes who might feel isolated or even uncomfortable in an environment that doesn’t always look like them. I designed a logo that marries a soccer ball and the shape of the iconic raised fist to identify the mission the academy. The fist is a symbol of power and the resilience of the black soccer player fighting against the barriers. I’ve also included the Pan-African colors, red, yellow, green and black to further represent the heritage of the black community.”
