ADEBUKOLA AJAO, WORKING NOT WORKING X WHERE ARE THE BLACK DESIGNERS

VISUAL DESIGNER

“Makeida’s Hands is an ode to mothers, whose hands have shaped the world, hence the duplicate fingers on one hand. Mothers are ethereal individuals who defy logic everyday by giving birth. Unfortunately, Black mothers are dying at higher rates than any other group of women in America due to pregnancy. The Black Maternity Mortality rate is a health crisis. Black women need and deserve better healthcare to preserve our lives on the most transformational day of our lives - giving birth.”

BLACK & TRANSCENDENT

“Whether in real or imagined spaces, Black people thrive through our creativity, our brazen resilience and resistance to injustice, as well as our love for ourselves. Being Black has been a both magical and tragic. It's hard to explain but its so deeply felt.”
