ABIEYUWA EIGBOBO, WORKING NOT WORKING X WHERE ARE THE BLACK DESIGNERS

artist

““Obhiaha” is a 3d model of an Esan/Edo bride wearing a hairstyle known as Eto-Okuku adorned with traditional coral beads, which represent power, royalty, beauty and wealth and also are believed to hold special powers. With this work, I am interested in decolonizing the cultural institutions that house these ornate objects, tribal wear that showcases African beauty, redistributing them using new forms of digital fabrication.”
